Rosa Ushiromiya

[Day 4]

[A new round done with, a new session of voting planning to discuss. At least Rosa was sober... more-or-less, this time.]

How did everyone do? --Well, we know already. All four of us have at least one vote.

Congratulations, Kyrie-nee-san, on showing everyone else how it's done.

I play Rosa Ushiromiya, a minor character from Umineko no Naku koro ni.

I've had a few people tell me they were interested and tried to look up information on her, but were discouraged because the internet resources on Umineko don't explain the story very well.

Therefore, I've decided to take it upon myself to explain the basic premise of Umineko, as well as Rosa's place in the story, for the benefit of those who are not canon familiar.

This is full of spoilers.

[ There wasn't really a 'there' there when her portal was complete.

The human known as Rosa Ushiromiya was long, long dead.

As was her daughter, most of her immediate family, and anyone else caught within the radius of the explosion on the island.

There was only one place for her to go.

The Golden Land.

It looked exactly like her father's mansion. The people looked like everyone who was there on that fateful day of the final family reunion. But, the tone was like that which had never occurred in the house itself.

It was a happy, lively Halloween party. Everyone was smiling. Even her father, who rarely, if ever, had a pleasant word for anyone in the family.

Everyone was happy. Even her brother's wife Natsuhi, who was perpetually stressed and dealt with constant headaches.

Rosa herself was happy. Free to sit, relax, not worry about her obligations, and watch her daughter Maria play and have fun. She had a glass of satisfying wine with her. Though she was free to imbibe as much as she liked, it never did more than provide a little pleasant warmth to the body. Drunkenness and the anger or maudlin feelings it brought wasn't needed in the Golden Land.

So, the party would go on for all eternity.

Rosa, and everyone else, trapped inside the metaphorical 'cat-box' of mystery shrouding what really happened that day.

A pleasant, but somewhat melancholy existence if she thought about it. Like an eternal limbo she could never leave.

Had she ever existed anywhere else? She had to wonder if her memories of 'Kyriakos' were even real.
